📈Macro Cryptocurrency News

• Headline inflation eased to 2.5% in August, down from 2.9% in July. This marks the lowest inflation rate since February 2021.

  • Core inflation, excluding food and energy, remained stable at 3.2%. While the overall inflation rate is below the Federal Reserve's target of 2%, it's still slightly higher than economists' expectations.

• TRON, the blockchain network founded by Justin Sun, is working with TRM Labs and Tether to combat illicit activity involving USDT.

  • This comes after a 2023 report from TRM Labs showed that Tron accounted for nearly 45% of all illicit crypto volume.

• Web3 social media platform Friend.Tech, has essentially shut down despite a successful launch just a year ago.

  • On September 8th, the developers took a critical step – they transferred control of the platform's smart contracts (the self-executing code) to a non-existent address on the Ethereum blockchain.

• In a recent interview on CNBC Crypto World, Robinhood's CEO expressed optimism about the potential of cryptocurrencies to significantly impact the financial services industry. 

  • The CEO highlighted the long-term benefits that cryptocurrencies could bring to the sector. 

• PayPal and Venmo have now adopted the Ethereum Name Service (ENS). This integration allows users to send crypto payments using easy-to-remember ENS names instead of complex wallet addresses.

  • With this new feature, users can simply enter the recipient's ENS name when sending crypto on PayPal or Venmo, and the platforms will automatically identify the corresponding wallet address.

• The recent performance of Bitcoin ETFs has been largely influenced by market volatility and, more specifically, the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC).

  • Amidst periods of market uncertainty, investors have been withdrawing their funds from GBTC, leading to a significant decline in its assets under management.
