📈Macro Cryptocurrency News

• Trump Media and Technology Group, which operates Truth Social, is close to an all-stock acquisition of crypto trading firm Bakkt.

  • The price of Trump Media, which owns the Trump-affiliated TruthSocial social media app and boasts a market capitalize of more than $7 billion, surged in the wake of the announcement.

• Crypto data tracking firm Arkham Intel plans to launch a spot trading platform in the United States. 

  • User eligibility for the spot trading exchange will vary by jurisdiction. Individuals in the U.S. cannot onboard unless their state legally allows it.

• Micheal Saylor, the prominent Bitcoin bull and MicroStrategy CEO, has revealed that he will be presenting a three-minute pitch to Microsoft's board of directors, advocating for a Bitcoin investment. 

  • This follows his previous attempt to meet with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella to discuss the matter, which was declined. 

• World Network, a blockchain project founded by OpenAI's Sam Altman, uses iris scans to provide digital identity verification. 

  • However, a new competitor, "Y," backed by crypto veterans, is looking to challenge World Network's dominance in the digital identity space. 

• Injective, an L1 protocol, has introduced iAgent, a software development kit (SDK) that enables users to create their own AI agents. 

  • By leveraging OpenAI's ChatGPT, iAgent empowers users to send payments, place trades, and manage funds, all through natural language commands. 

• SEC Chair Gary Gensler will resign on Jan. 20, paving the way for President-elect Donald Trump to select a replacement immediately.

  • Gensler took over the SEC in 2021, and under his leadership, the commission has taken a controversial approach to regulating the crypto space. 

• Sky, a leading DeFi protocol formerly known as Maker, has expanded the reach of its USDS stablecoin to the Solana blockchain.

  • This move is interesting because USDS was previously exclusive to the Ethereum network. The deployment of USDS on Solana is part of Sky's broader strategy to evolve its protocol and explore new opportunities in the DeFi space.

• President-elect Donald Trump will soon meet with Brian Armstrong,  the CEO of Coinbase.

  • The duo is expected to discuss personnel appointments for his second administration, including the much anticipated SEC chair vacancy. He is also considering the creation of the first-ever White House position dedicated to crypto policy. 

• Binance recently announced its plans to launch a new asset called BFUSD.

  • While the name might suggest a stablecoin due to the "USD" suffix, Binance clarified that BFUSD is not a stablecoin but rather a reward-bearing margin asset for futures trading. The asset is designed to offer a 19.55% annual percentage yield
