📈Macro Cryptocurrency News

• Binance introduced BFUSD this week, a new reward-bearing margin asset for futures trading.

  • This asset allows users to earn passive income by holding it or actively trading futures contracts. Despite its name, the platform has clarified that BFUSD is not a stablecoin. 

• President-elect Donald Trump announced plans to increase tariffs on all Chinese imports to the U.S. by an additional 10%, according to a post on his Truth Social platform. 

  • The announcement followed another post where Trump stated that his first executive order on January 20 would impose a 25% tariff on all products from Mexico and Canada, effectively terminating the regional free trade agreement.

• President-elect Donald Trump is nominating hedge fund CEO Scott Bessent as Treasury secretary.

  • In a statement, Trump described him as "widely respected as one of the world's foremost international investors and geopolitical and economic Strategists."

• Rumble, the video-sharing platform, has announced that it will invest up to $20 million in Bitcoin.

  • This strategic move aims to diversify the company's assets and accelerate its entry into the cryptocurrency market.

• Tron founder Justin Sun revealed that his company has invested $30 million in World Liberty Financial tokens, a crypto project endorsed by President-elect Donald Trump. 

  • The investment comes after World Liberty Financial's underwhelming launch and Trump’s recent election as U.S. president. 

• MicroStrategy has significantly increased its Bitcoin holdings by acquiring another 55,000 BTC for $5.4 billion.

  • This latest purchase brings the company's total Bitcoin holdings to a substantial 386,700 BTC, acquired at an average price of $56,761 per coin. All Micheal Saylor wants for Christmas is more Bitcoin. 

• A U.S. federal court has ruled against the SEC's attempt to expand the definition of a securities dealer to include certain cryptocurrency firms.

  • The court's decision is a significant setback for the SEC, particularly for Chair Gary Gensler, who is set to depart in January. Gary, don’t let the door hit you on the way out. 

• Amazon.com Inc. is investing an additional $4 billion in artificial intelligence startup Anthropic, boosting its stake in one of OpenAI’s chief rivals. 

  • According to the announcement, the two companies are continuing their partnership through funding after a previous $4B investment earlier this year by Amazon.
