• The $1.5 trillion investment firm, Franklin Templeton, forecasts that more countries will include Bitcoin in their national reserves throughout 2025.

• BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) has achieved unprecedented success, surpassing $50 billion in assets under management (AUM) within just 11 months of its launch.

  • This remarkable feat positions IBIT as the most successful ETF ever launched by BlackRock, surpassing all 1,400 ETFs previously introduced by the firm.

• Linda Yaccarino, CEO of X (formerly Twitter), announced on New Year's Eve that the platform will launch a new payment system, "X Money," in 2025. 

  • Yaccarino outlined a vision for X's future, highlighting key initiatives including X TV, X Money, and the AI-powered chatbot, Grok.

• The AI agent platform, ai16z, is exploring significant changes to its ecosystem, including potential adjustments to its tokenomics and even the launch of its own Layer 1 blockchain.

• Layer-1 blockchain HyperLiquid, known for its decentralized derivatives exchange, opened up native staking for holders of its HYPE token, according to a recent post on X.

  • Stakers can select which validator to stake tokens with and will accrue rewards in return for securing the network.

• Micheal Saylor is at it again, as MicroStrategy has acquired an additional 2,138 Bitcoin for approximately $209 million (an average price of $97,837 per Bitcoin).

  • As of January 1st, MicroStrategy holds a total of 446,400 Bitcoin, acquired at an average price of $62,428 per Bitcoin, representing a total investment of approximately $27.9 billion.

• The IRS has finalized rules requiring certain brokers in the DeFi space to report on the gross proceeds of their users' digital asset sales.

  • These new rules bring DeFi brokers in line with traditional brokers by requiring them to: gather data on their users' transactions, including names and addresses, and send form 1099 to their clients (this documents the total amount of money received from digital asset sales).
