📈Macro Cryptocurrency News

• According to a January 13 report from The Washington Post, President-elect Trump is expected to issue executive orders shortly after taking office next week.

  • These orders include measures to address crypto de-banking and repeal a bank accounting policy that mandates financial institutions holding cryptocurrency classify digital assets as liabilities.

• The Consumer Price Index (CPI), which excludes volatile food and energy costs, increased by 0.2% in December, down from 0.3% in November. On an annual basis, core inflation rose 3.2%, suggesting that inflationary pressures may be easing.

• The Producer Price Index (PPI), a measure of wholesale prices, increased by a smaller-than-expected 0.2% in December, suggesting that inflationary pressures may be easing.

  • While inflation may be cooling, it's unlikely to prompt the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates again soon.

• MicroStrategy recently acquired 2,530 Bitcoin for approximately $243 million at an average price of $95,972 per Bitcoin. 

  • This brings their total Bitcoin holdings to over 450,000 BTC, acquired at a cost of approximately $28.2 billion.

• Tether, the largest stablecoin issuer, is nearing the completion of its relocation to El Salvador, following the successful acquisition of a Digital Asset Service Provider (DASP) license. 

  • This move positions Tether to foster innovation and contribute to the growth of Bitcoin adoption in emerging markets.

• MoonPay, a leading cryptocurrency infrastructure provider, has acquired Helio, a Solana-powered crypto payment processor, for $175 million. The agreement follows MoonPay's strategic partnership with PayPal, established in May, enabling the use of PayPal accounts to buy and sell more than 100 cryptocurrencies on its platform.

• Cryptocurrency data provider Messari has implemented a workforce reduction, impacting approximately 15% of its full-time employees. The company also chose not to renew contracts with several contractors, a common practice at the beginning of the year.

• Fetch.ai, a blockchain-based AI company built on the Cosmos network, has launched a $10 million accelerator program.

  • This initiative aims to support startups developing cutting-edge solutions in three key areas: AI agents, quantum computing, and high-performance tech. 

• JPMorgan Chase has predicted that the launch of Solana and XRP ETFs in the United States could trigger substantial investment inflows, potentially attracting between $3 billion and $6 billion for Solana ETFs and between $4 billion and $8 billion for XRP ETFs within their first year.
