• The U.S. Senate voted to advance the GENIUS Act, a bill establishing a regulatory framework for stablecoins, marking a significant step for crypto regulation despite earlier Democratic opposition.

• Bybit has expanded its Gold & FX offerings to include equities trading. Users can trade shares of 78 companies, including Coinbase and the “Magnificent 7,” using Tether’s USDT stablecoin. 

• SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce stated that most existing crypto assets do not meet the definition of securities, advocating for a clearer regulatory framework to support innovation in the crypto industry.

• Sei Labs released a whitepaper for Sei Giga, introducing the first multi-proposer EVM Layer-1 blockchain, designed to enhance transaction speed and scalability for decentralized applications. 

• Binance and Kraken reportedly faced hacking attempts similar to a $112 million exploit on Coinbase, highlighting vulnerabilities in crypto exchanges as digital asset adoption grows. 

• Moody’s downgraded the U.S. credit rating from Aaa to Aa1, citing rising deficits and political polarization, causing a spike in Treasury yields as markets reacted to increased fiscal concerns. 

  • The downgrade, the first since 2011, raises borrowing costs and could impact economic stability ahead of key policy decisions.

• The U.S. Department of Justice has launched a probe into a recent cyberattack on Coinbase.

  • In the attack, hackers accessed customer data, prompting a federal investigation. Coinbase confirmed the attack involved stolen names, emails, and addresses, but no login credentials. 

• Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin proposed "partially stateless nodes" to scale Ethereum’s L1, allowing users to store only relevant data, potentially increasing the gas limit by 10-100 times while maintaining decentralization.
