• The U.S. Commerce Department reported a surprising 0.7% drop in retail sales for July 2025, below the expected 0.2% decline, signaling weaker consumer spending. 

• Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell signaled potential interest rate cuts during his August 22, 2025, Jackson Hole speech, citing labor market concerns and cooling inflation

  • This dovish stance triggered a massive crypto market surge, with Ethereum posting a god candle

• Ethereum-based exchange-traded funds saw a record $250 million in net inflows, driven by optimism ahead of the Jackson Hole Symposium. This boost in institutional interest could propel ETH toward new highs, impacting altcoin markets. 

• The People’s Bank of China reduced its one-year loan prime rate by 25 basis points to 3.1%, aiming to stimulate its economy. This move could weaken the yuan, potentially driving capital into crypto markets as a hedge.
